INVENTORY
- Oordeel's Feather
---- "It must have fallen from his wing, it seems utterly useless."
- Yellow Key
---- "A key from the Quivering Forest. It is useless now."

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Build: Lazarus is a lanky feline with a build that is largely based on leg power and locomotion. His speed is dependent on his actual length of stride as opposed to the quickness of his feet, which leaves him best fit for efficient running and jumping in open areas, but not frail enough to fall to a single blow. His larger size makes him unsuited for smaller spaces, and while fleet of foot, he lacks the heavy muscle and fine motor skills of a skilled fighter. Lazarus has a round face with pronounced cheek tufts and large ears.
Fur Color/Texture: Lazarus is coated in a layer of downy, medium length fur that is golden-brown in color and tabby-striped. It is often clustered together in tufts due to his lack of normal hygiene and is thicker at the nape of his neck and tail. He has an ample amount of cream on his underside, legs, tail tip and muzzle. His fur strand-by-strand, is thin, though can hold a lot of water when wet.
Eye Color: Blue-green
Distinguishing Marks: N/A
Physical Strengths: Due to his age, Larry is not as strong or as well-versed in fighting as his adult peers due to his upbringing with few other cats, but is faster in open stretches of land. His hind legs are much stronger than his fronts, allowing him a stronger kick as opposed to a swipe. Overall, he is average among his other strengths, though being uneducated means his sense is lacking. He required a lot of direction when accomplishing a task for the first time, which may be hard to garner due to his personality.
Physical Weaknesses: Lazarus is not strong in his forepaws, especially on uneven terrain. Whereas he is able to run and jump, climbing in itself is a whole different challenge. If presented with a task involving holding onto anything with his forepaws he would most likely be the first to fail. He is not a strong swimmer as well, whereas he can swim in calm waters, but tides would surely sweep him to certain doom.

HISTORY
Childhood/Family Life:
[Before Birth]
Abrahm and Yertie had raised their children to adulthood and lived a long fulfilling life. Well, as good a life as one could live in their situation. Dwelling in the forest many leagues from the gate provided them with shelter and just enough prey to sustain their family long enough for their children to go off on their own, clenched by the need to see and acquire their own destiny. However, their eldest son Hector, a soft-spoken, yet intense young tom, had never felt the same tug of adventure his siblings had embraced. He instead helped to care for his sire, dam and kin to the best of his ability and was the major breadwinner once his parents started to deteriorate physically with age. When an earthquake caused several trees to fall, and killing Yertie in the process, Abrahm decided it best to travel with Hector away from the trees and from his place of birth.

While living as a family, it wasn’t unusual to find other groups passing through. As the years had gone by, the hushed warning of natural disasters seemed like frantic fairytales, yet now danger had hit too close to home. Abrahm set off in the same direction as the others had gone in the direction towards a rumored gate where others had been gathering for almost a year. Along the way, Hector and Abrahm met up with Penelope, a fiery-spirited mollie on her way to the same location, and the three hit it off. With Penelope's sharp, intense flame and Hector's warm adoration, the two quickly found themselves smitten. Traveling made quick lovers and within a few weeks, Penelope was already heavy with her first litter, to Abrahm's dismay. Of the three, Penelope was the first to act in a conflict due to being raised from a young age to fight for survival, which left them hiding for some time until she could give birth safely.

[0-6 Moons]
Lazarus was born into a litter of three on the road to the Gate. As hard as they tried to survive in a cold and unforgiving room, the two other kits quickly passed on, and within a few days it too seemed as if it were not Lazaus’ fate to remain in this world as well. The young kitten had been silent and still for several days before eventually rousing and beginning to suckle eagerly at his mother's side. Abrahm considered themselves lucky to have one survivor, however frail he believed the kit would be. The fact that life could still manage to fight in the midst of the chaos only increased their desire to reach the Gate and in Abrahm's belief that Paradise was out there, merely biding its time as the select come to find it.

[6-12moons]
Surrounded by many strange cats, Hector and Penelope blanched at the idea of continuing onward as their numbers swelled to unheard of proportions, but Abrahm was set on making the journey, especially now that Penelope was now pregnant once more, her milk barely dried up. As Lazarus grew, the trio joined more branch groups on their way to the gate and into the fray. Their group swelled to unheard of numbers, which lead to stress on the pregnant Penelope, who birthed another litter of weak kittens, save for the firstborn female, who pulled through.

[12moons-present]
Lazarus entered the adolescent stage of his life surrounded by new and imposing felines his own age, all of whom were as determined to learn the lad as quickly as they could. In that time, he made many friends, but also many enemies. So many cats had clustered around the sacred gate that soon health conditions dwindled and any manner of disaster claimed many lives. One such group that joined brought an illness that claimed many of their numbers, including both Hector and Penelope, who had just weaned from their only daughter Marigold. Their mourning was short lived, as only weeks after his parent's deaths, Lazarus' life would change forever.

When the Gate opened that fateful day, Lazarus was among the crowd to witness. At once, his heart pounded frantically in his chest, and his mind thought nothing but the light the massive structure emitted. The young tom broke from the crowd and entered the gate with a willing heart, leaving his family in horror. Marigold lurched to pursue her brother, but their grandfather held her back, as he could see that the light was drawing his grandson in, and that the there would be no saving him where he was going. Lazarus padded into the light, and when it seemed it could burn no brighter, he was thrust into complete blackness.

The boom of Oordeel’s voice sent a tremor through Lazarus, but the lad knew little of fear. He had toed the line of life and death as an infant, which meant he was not scared of dying. Instead, he screamed back at the god in defiance, his anger one of the loudest when it was revealed that he was but a fraction of a soul. They all had struggled for so long that it seemed ill fitting that the only thing separating themselves from paradise would be just that- themselves.

PERSONALITY
DARING // HONEST// LIGHTHEARTED :: LOUD// NAÏVE // ABRASIVE :: DOMINEERING // PETTY // STUBBORN

Positives/Virtues/Skills:
Daring: When faced with a daunting challenge, Lazarus would be the first to dive straight in. His lack of education of the wrongs and horrors of life have left him with no fear. Being born and always dangling above the jaws of death leads to a certain sense of invincibility that at times may even be a downfall.

Honest: Trust him to never twist his words, as he doesn't know how to. Lying is not in the tom's nature to begin with, and with his parents knowing his every move, it was futile to try and weave a false story. Any attempts to lie can be easily detected, even if the recipient of his farce is not extremely intelligent.

Lighthearted: As dark as the world seems, to Lazarus there is some good to be found. Lazarus really looks hard into others to find the good in them. His family considered him the 'light in their life' due to his boundless optimism and ability to lighten the mood.

Neutral Traits:
Loud: No, it’s not just his voice. Everything about Lazarus is loud and in-your-face. He seems to raise his voice when he is happy, sad, indifferent, hungry, bored, or tired. His hot, but not mean personality can be off-putting to quieter cats, but it is not meant to be in ill intent.

Abrasive: Being raised with his mother as a role model, Lazarus adopted her less than polite manner of talk. While not outright rude, some of his speech may be seen as inflammatory, which partnered with his bullheadedness could lead to many arguments. If those around him don't take his words to  heart, they may even get a laugh from his antics. He means well, it's just that sometimes being educated means you lose a bit of that not-so-common sense. ;D

Naïve: As he is uneducated, Lazarus' lack of experience makes him a pliable soul. If the right cats were to find him and contain his energy, he could become a major game-changer as the trials progress. He is genuine, like a child, and his innocence and trusting nature may be a double edged sword.

Flaws/Weaknesses:
Domineering: Even though he has never lead a group before, Larry is the type to take charge, even though others may be better suited. He often butts heads with others, and it is certain he will not get along with anybody showing any manner of dissent.

Petty: If one has ever wronged him in the past and later needs his help, they had better plead for it. Lazarus considers himself ‘nice’, but if somebody were to cross him the wrong way, not only is the grudge going to be as strong as his personality, but every iota of aid will be nigh impossible to glean. The only way he may yield without second thought would be in a life-or-death situation, since he is fearful of his other half dying before he can find them.

Stubborn: Something shiny in his path? Lazarus needs to see and determine if it is useful or not and WILL NOT move another inch. What is the solution to the riddle? Lazarus knows and he will NOT take any other opinion. This negative trait will surely cause him to lose face with others who are just as unlikely to budge. He needs ample proof before he abandons his beliefs.

RP SAMPLE:
Beckon wanted to put up a fight and feel like even if the boys were to finish her job, that she had fought for her children to the very end. Rather, as Rip's muzzle touched her flank, the woman would drop her booty and creep back in defeat to the children meant to live, curling herself around them so they could feed and be warm. She'd peek up a her brother hoping to keep an eye on the other two doomed children as any good mother would, but after a few minutes of failure, she would turn her attention to the two females and the male who had lived, tucking them against the teat before wrapping herself around the wee jellybeans.

When Imre approached, Beck whined softly, but did not move from her place as he stooped to pick up her remaining children, certainly to do the deed himself and spare her the anguish of watching them die or hearing them suffer. The moment he left, a silence broken only by the soft cries of puppies would fall upon their mother, her teal eye glued to Rip as she restrained soft sobs of horror. This was what she had excepted of the Horde when she had first been brought into their ranks. It only hurt her more gravely now that there were others around who she cared for with all of her heart, and they too appeared to struggle with the loss all the same.

When Imre returned empty-handed, Beck would stare at him with one mournful eye as he crept to her and weave himself into her torso. "Did you do it?" The new mother would ask quietly, curling into Imre and Rip, her voice distant as if asking about something other than her deceased children. She knew Drae would hear of it and with that Beck hoped that it would mean no further harm to her survivors. She would crane her neck to rasp them over once again, rubbing the warmth of her tongue into their thin baby skin.

SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS (REQUIRED)

WHAT WAS YOUR CHARACTER'S STANCE ON ENTERING PARADISE?
Up until recently, Lazarus was unaware that Paradise existed. All he knew was that by joining the main group, they may find the source of the disasters, which was all that directly affect him. When the gate opened, his lack of fear is what drove him onward and the wonder of what lay ahead. By entering Paradise, he will find his other half, but what secretly sorrows him is the chance that the rest of his family and all those who had suffered would never find the same peace as he may.

Was your character a scholar, did they believe in the lore found about locating paradise?
No, Lazarus is both too young and too childish to care about the lore, let alone follow it as intensely enough to catch up with the scholars who already exist. Much of what he knows had been relayed to him by his grandfather, who was also uneducated, but has pushed himself into the lower ranks of scholars to learn the lore.
